The number at your GP
Your HbA1c is in the range of 5.7 to 6.4 percent or just above. Nothing serious yet, you were told – but a direction you don't like.
HbA1c raised?
Take action now.
Your doctor says your long-term blood sugar is heading the wrong way. Maybe you are already taking metformin. That is not a verdict – it is your starting signal.
Twelve weeks of targeted training, a diet with fewer carbohydrates and support that sticks with you when everyday life gets in the way. So your body responds better to insulin again. Your treatment stays with your doctor.
Most people notice nothing for a long time. Then a value shows up in a lab report, and suddenly the topic is there. This is exactly the point where it pays to act – as early as possible.
Your HbA1c is in the range of 5.7 to 6.4 percent or just above. Nothing serious yet, you were told – but a direction you don't like.
The tablet dose is set, the value is supposed to stabilise. And you wonder what you can contribute yourself instead of just waiting.
Your waist gets wider, your energy drops after lunch, and in the evening you crave something sweet. That often has to do with blood sugar.
A raised HbA1c usually means your cells respond less well to insulin. That insulin sensitivity can be trained – with four levers that are in your own hands.
A large share of the sugar from food is taken up by your muscles. Building and using muscle creates room – that is why strength training is at the centre, not just going for walks.
Working muscles pull sugar from the blood even when insulin is working less well. Regular endurance exercise and a short walk after meals strengthen this effect.
Not banning, but reducing and distributing smartly: protein and vegetables first, carbohydrates where you actually need them. That keeps blood sugar spikes smaller.
Short nights and constant stress measurably worsen how insulin works. That is why they belong in the plan, not in a footnote.
General information, not medical advice. Diagnosis and treatment belong in the hands of doctors. Expert information on type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes, lots of medication, worries about his kidney values. Instead of talking about the stage, we stabilised his health first: more endurance, fewer carbohydrates, blood sugar always in view, medication supervised by his doctor.
Today, by his own account, Günter no longer needs blood sugar-lowering medication, his values are within the reference range – and at 63 he became world runner-up in bodybuilding.
Günter's journey is personal and can't be applied to everyone. It shows what is possible when you stick with it consistently.
At the start your value at the doctor, at the end again. In between, the work – and you don't do it alone.
We talk about your lab results, medication, daily life and goal. You bring your current HbA1c and confirm with your doctor that training is right for you.
Strength and endurance training at your pace, plus a diet with fewer carbohydrates – built from what you already like to eat.
In Nuremberg once a week with me in person. Online with video feedback on your technique and a fixed weekly check-in.
Blood sugar, waist circumference, weight and strength values go into the Camp Dörfl app. Every week we look at them and adjust whatever isn't working.
You have the value checked by your doctor. We put start and finish side by side and plan how you keep what you have achieved.
As a diabetes coach I support you with training, nutrition and everyday life – in person in Nuremberg for Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen, or online across Germany. I am a personal trainer and coach, not a doctor and not a certified diabetes educator (Diabetesberater DDG). That is why training and medicine work side by side, not against each other.
Planning and supporting your training, adapting your diet to everyday life, recording your values, keeping you on track when life gets in the way.
Diagnosis, lab values, medication and every decision on whether and when anything about your treatment changes. Nothing here is planned around that.
In person in Nuremberg or online from anywhere – plan, app and support are included in both.

Timed with your next check-up at the doctor: put new values into context, compare waist and strength, adjust the plan and regain momentum with four weeks of closer guidance.
Your body needs this refresher again and again – like any system that is supposed to run reliably. Every hour you invest in yourself pays off in the years ahead.
… your HbA1c is raised, type 2 diabetes is on the horizon or you are just starting on metformin – and you really want to change something over twelve weeks. You don't need any sports experience.
… you want to reduce medication without your doctor or are looking for a quick diet. For type 1 diabetes this programme is not the right setting.
A diabetes coach helps you put into practice what makes the difference with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes: regular strength and endurance training, a diet with fewer carbohydrates, enough sleep and sticking with it for months. A coach makes no diagnosis and changes no medication – that stays with your doctor. At Camp Dörfl your coach is Dominik Dörfl: personal trainer, two-time German champion and the coach behind Günter Preis’ journey.
Yes. In person you train in Nuremberg – for people from Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen and the wider metropolitan region. Online, the coaching runs across Germany via the Camp Dörfl app with a weekly check-in and video feedback on your technique.
For people with raised long-term blood sugar: an HbA1c in the prediabetes range between 5.7 and 6.4 percent, early type 2 diabetes or a recent start on metformin. What matters is the will to work at it consistently for twelve weeks.
Yes – especially then. The requirement is that your doctor knows about it and clears you for training. Nothing about your medication changes in the programme; that is decided solely by your doctor based on your values. If you take insulin or medication that can cause low blood sugar, we coordinate particularly closely with your doctor.
Studies show that strength training, endurance exercise and a diet with fewer carbohydrates can improve insulin sensitivity and lower HbA1c. How strongly that works for you depends on your starting point and how you follow through. That is why no value is promised here – it is measured by your doctor before and after.
No. Carbohydrates are reduced and spread sensibly across the day – not banned. The plan starts from what you already eat. Whatever you can't keep up doesn't go into the plan.
No. The start is based on what your body can handle. If you have had a long break, you begin with low volume and clean technique – that is exactly where most progress happens at the beginning.
You get your plan in the Camp Dörfl app, train at home or in the gym and send videos of your technique. Once a week there is a fixed check-in with feedback and adjustments. You enter your values in the app.
No. A normal blood glucose meter is enough. If you use a sensor, you will see how you react to food and training especially clearly – that can be motivating, but it is optional.
Twelve weeks in person in Nuremberg with weekly personal training cost €1,290, the online option €690. After that you can continue with the app or online coaching; the refresher every six months costs €249.
Via the contact form, by phone or on WhatsApp. In the initial consultation we clarify whether the programme suits you and which option makes sense.
